Biological and ecological features of the species: A bivalve mollusc with a smooth, thick, oval shell with thin streaks. The inside edge is smooth. Externally it is a reddish-brown colour.

Nutritional qualities:  The nutritional value of the smooth clam is similar to that of other Veneridae molluscs.
